Your health in your hands

Patients Know Best (PKB) is a social enterprise and technology platform. It’s designed to help health and social care providers bring together patient data, along with the patient’s own data, creating one secure Personal Health Record (PHR) for the patient. It is the first PHR to integrate with the NHS App making it more accessible to more people across the UK.

Patients can login to access everything from appointment letters and test results, to their multi-disciplinary care plans. To empower patients to play an active role in their health and wellbeing, they can use specially designed tools to monitor and track their health condition.

Our award-winning granular privacy model allows patients to share all or parts of their record with family, carers and other healthcare professionals, anywhere in the world. This has paved the way for joined-up care that is safer, efficient and focused around the individual care needs of more than 15 million citizens in the UK alone.

Mohammad’s story

After years of witnessing patients experience suboptimal care as a result of disjointed information sharing, Dr Mohammad Al-Ubaydli – a healthcare physician, doctor with over 16 years experience in medical software and the author of 6 books on patient-controlled health records, set out on a mission to empower patients to become the drivers of their own health destinies.

Leading with social purpose

As an innovative social enterprise driven by a clear social purpose, we are proud to be a recognised B Corporation. This is a new type of enterprise which uses business as a force for social good. Our values are therefore, intrinsically linked to our mission – that every person:

  1. Owns a copy of all their health information.
  2. Understands what this information means.
  3. Uses this understanding to make shared decisions with family members or carers and healthcare professionals.

The belief that empowering patients is the right thing to do is clearly evident among healthcare professionals. In 2021 we celebrated 13 years of progress with this, sharing more than 10 million patient records across every county in the United Kingdom, with over a million patients using the platform.
